Ayer Kahjaa
Local neighborhood catgirl adventurer.
Name: Ayer Kahjaa
Age: 25 summers
Race: Miqo'te, Keeper of the MoonSometimes, as you sip at your intoxicant of choice in the local bar, you can overhear gossip of a whirlwind in Miqo'te form. A fistfighter of some (notorious?) renown. Apparently, she trains by dueling bears bare-handed in the forests outside Castrum Oriens. Or was it wrestling sea serpents in the shallows of the Ruby Sea? Supposedly, she's leapt onto a dragon's back and brought it low with her own fists before, just narrowly missing a harrowing swandive into the Sea of Clouds."Aha, really? Come on, sea serpents are much too troublesome to actually wrestle... everyone knows it's easier to just break their jaws straight." Your tablemate chuckles, blue-furred ears twitching in amusement as she tips a good capful or two (or, at least you think she's only put in two?) of some concoction from her flask into her own flagon of mead. You nod absentmindedly. The specifics of hunting Othardian sea serpents isn't of that much interest to you. The young woman is about to reach for a handful of vegetable chips when she realizes she's still wearing her gauntlets, and sighs with some measure of annoyance as she moves to remove them and her complicated-looking handwraps. "It's a pain, yes, but it's even more of a pain to get all the oil and grease out of the handwraps and joints... Oh, you want some? Go ahead, plenty to go around. Me? Call me Ayer. Good to meet you, stranger."She smiles at you, sharp fangs teeth glinting in the light of the tavern. Sprightly character, she is.
Ayer Kahjaa of the Silent LeavesAyer could best be described as an overachiever. Not only was she blessed with a powerful yet agile physique, she also had a keen mind which made her a true force to be reckoned with both as a leader and a hunter. She was beloved by her tribe and was favored as the next-in-line to the title of tribe matriarch, succeeding her mother, Kahjaa Shiida. Not that she wanted to, though.Another character trait Ayer was born with was a natural tendency towards rebellion, and a freewheeling attitude which bound her to no woman (or man, or beast, for that matter).Naturally, she balked at the thought of being saddled with her mother's responsibilities as tribe matriarch, and very quickly realized that there was no way she was getting out of them.It also didn't help much at all that she held some resentment towards Gridania for their treatment of her tribe and many other Keepers, despite Kahjaa's efforts to remain in their good graces for the sake of the tribe's future. She wouldn't call it hate, no. But the thought of having to continue down her mother's path gnawed at her. Finally, faced with no way out, Ayer made her own path. At the age of 16, she struck out from her home in The Shroud to make her own way as an adventurer.
Wander no MoreAyer tends to introduce herself as an adventurer or mercenary, though the specific label doesn't matter that much to her. She's really just out here to eat good, kick ass and overall have a fun time while she can. Now based in Ishgard, she has made a name for herself as a reliable procurer of high-quality monster-related goods and impeccable bodyguard. This reputation followed her from her adventurer roots in Ul'dah, and she enjoys a comfortable (albeit regularly life-threatening) lifestyle. She has taken up the hobby of preparing meals from the monsters she slays too, with mixed results. The rate of deliciousness goes up by the day!Recent occurrences have however led to her reputation of being a free spirit being put into question. While it wasn't exactly uncommon for her to take up side gigs at bars or cafes as favors to friends, she is now a regular sight at the Gridania-based teahouse Hēi Māo along with (gasp) her husband, Kada Katzenberg. Prior statements of her being bound to no man, woman or beast have thus aged like milk. She seems to be very much content with him though.
PugilistWhile she did train under the Fist of Rhalgr and is one of its more well-known members owing to her reputation as an adventurer, Ayer doesn't tend to call herself a monk. She's not terribly religious or spiritual, for one. She lives for the thrill of the fight, and sees hand-to-hand combat as an art. Spar with her, perhaps, or challenge her to a fistfight! What's the worst that could happen, right?Hunt->CookWhile Ayer has mostly distanced herself from her home tribe in the Shroud down to changing her active hours to suit most other denizens of Eorzea, she is still a huntress at heart. Her daily training routine still consists of hunting down (i.e beating up) the local wildlife and turning some of them into ingredients for her cooking. Her most recent favorite is Othardian sea serpent grilled with a Gridanian spice rub, and glazed with a sweet-savory sauce made of mun-tuy beans. She enjoys cooking just as much as hunting, and is happy to discuss the gastronomic arts, as well!TravelerAyer is first and foremost a traveler. Her job as an adventurer brings her to many places, near and far, high and low. While she doesn't regard herself as much of a bard or hero, she does like to talk about traveling and the many sights she's seen, and is even more enthusiastic about meeting fellow wanderers.Intellectual Curiosities
A little-known fact about Ayer is that she is an avid reader, an interest further cultivated after she left the Shroud and was exposed to the wider world. While she has dabbled in Arcanist training and proved to be quite a quick study, she ultimately didn't find it her cup of tea. She much prefers reading and learning about other matters, particularly history and natural phenomena.AdventurerYou may have heard the moniker "Azure Gale" one or two (or ten) times hanging around in the pubs of Ul'dah, and around Idyllshire. A frighteningly strong, quick pugilist named for his? her? their? blue hair and speed. Nobody really seems to realize it's her until they see her in battle, though, or she says so herself....Are they just expecting someone taller?
Thanks for reading through Ayer's profile, I hope you found her interesting! If you're interested in RPing, I'm in the GMT+8 timezone, and generally active in the late evenings. Feel free to /tell Ayer whenever you see her around! I've been RPing for over 10 years by now, and I'm open to a wide variety of themes! You can also DM Ayer on Twitter @moonfister420 to discuss things. OOC, my schedule is awful though, so please don't take it personally if I don't end up being able to RP consistently with you :( I'll try my best though, and I'd love to make more friends!
